1st check up after hospital stay
Yesterday we had our first post hospital check up with the cardiologist. It was a big day that started bright and early. She had an echocardiogram, EKG, 6 minute walk test, lab work, and a 24 hr halter monitor.
The great news is that her Echo showed signs of improvement in her heart which is a direct result of her medications working! Thank you for praying for that. Her heart is still seriously sick, but things are moving in the right directions! Praise to our God who heals!
She did great during her 6 minute walk test. She walked more steps with fewer symptoms! She didn't have to stop at all and her heart rate only got up to 120. When she was the in the hospital going from her bed to the bathroom made her heart rate soar to 145, so 120 after six minutes of walking is SUPER! We knew she was going to rock this test because we have seen a difference in her endurance in normal daily living. She can go to the grocery store or for a walk without worry of endurance issues. That is big progress.
Wednesday night her Remodulin site came out and her arm was very irritated. We were trying to make it last as long as we could and made it about 5 weeks. We had to put in a new site for the first time on our own. When a new Remodulin site is put in most people have 3-5 days of "the angry phase." Her first site, while in the hospital, swelled and was very painful for about 3 days. So far, after 24 hours, she has only had a small bit of swelling and tenderness.
Today she got her 2nd COVID shot. Tonight she has a fever that we are hoping is just a symptom of the vaccine.
Next week we have a few appointments. One of them is a stress test so she can start pulmonary rehab soon. January 17 is our appointment in Cincinnati with the HHT center. We are hoping to have an appointment with the Pulmonary hypertension specialist at the same time but that is still being scheduled.
Thank you for continuing to pray. We trust that the Lord will continue to heal her body.
